This is a photo that I took of a Black-Tipped Diadem butterfly (hypolimnas monteironis) recently at The London Butterfly Gardens at Hall Place in Bexley, Kent.
The butterfly is usually an inhabitant of dense forests in tropical Africa and very rarely seen in the wild.
in butterfly houses it tends to have a lifespan of 20 days.
I took the photo during the second nature visit organised by the London Nature Photographers Network earlier this week on 3rd December 2024.
